Timothy J. McDermott, 65, of Passaic, New Jersey, formerly of Old Bridge, passed away suddenly on January 2, 2018 at St. Joseph Hospital in Paterson, New Jersey. Timothy was born on August 2, 1952 in Hamilton, Maryland and grew up in Newark and then Old Bridge, New Jersey. In 2002, he and his wife, Maria, settled in Passaic. Timothy was proud to have served in the United States Marine Corps. He also worked as a Chemical Engineer for GlaxoSmithKline and most recently Crane Aerospace and Electronics Company in West Caldwell, New Jersey, and was a Boy Scout Master for many years.
He was predeceased by his parents, Frederick and Mary Margaret (Chambers) McDermott, his beloved son, Michael J. McDermott, and his siblings, Daniel, Jack, Ellen, Frederick, and Patrick McDermott. Timothy is survived by his devoted wife, Maria T. McDermott, his dear siblings, Harold McDermott and his wife, Rose, of Waldorf, New York, George McDermott and his wife, Patricia, of Oxon Hill, New York, James Kissane and his wife, Nancy, of Tampa, Florida, F. Lynn Sarik and her husband, John, Titusville, Florida, Margaret McDermott of Union Beach, New Jersey, and Ann Tracey McDermott of Union Beach, New Jersey, along with his adored brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Adolfo and Vilma Zarate, Jose and Laura Zarate, Carlos Zarate, and Esperanza Zarate. Timothy was also a loving Godfather and cherished Uncle, to many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. He will be deeply missed, but never forgotten.
Family and friends are invited to visit on Tuesday, January 9, 2018 from 2:00 to 6:00 pm at the Shore Point Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 3269 State Highway/Route 35 North, Hazlet, New Jersey 07730. A prayer service will be offered at the funeral home during visitation hours. In respect of Timothy's wishes, he will be privately cremated.
