Thomas K. Hastings, fondly known as Tommy, 59, of Hazlet, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday, December 18, 2018 at Bayshore Community Hospital in Holmdel, New Jersey. He was born on June 26, 1959 in Brooklyn, New York, where he was raised and lived for many years before settling in Hazlet, New Jersey in 1987. Before retirement, Thomas worked as an Orthotist for Certified Orthopedic in Brooklyn, New York. Thomas was an avid New York Rangers fan, fisherman, and self-proclaimed “hockey poppy” who enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren. He was known for his kind spirit and ridiculous sense of humor. He was always willing to lend a hand and help those in need. He will be missed by all who knew him.
Thomas was predeceased by his dear parents, Leona (Kucharczyk) and Thomas K. Hastings, III. He is survived by his beloved wife of 34 years, Cheryl (Gilbride) Hastings, his loving children, Courtney Miseje and her husband, Justin, of Hazlet, New Jersey, and Kara Hastings and her fiancé, Nicolas Rescate, his dear sister, Kieran McKeon and his cherished grandchildren, Johnathan Rescate, Justin Miseje and Brennan Miseje. Thomas will be deeply missed, but never forgotten.
Family and friends are invited to visit on Friday afternoon, December 21, 2018 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM and Saturday morning, December 22, 2018 from 8:30 AM to 9:15 AM at the Shore Point Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 3269 State Highway/Route 35 North, Hazlet, New Jersey. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Saturday morning, December 22, 2018 at 10:00 AM at The Catholic Church of St. Ann, 311 Carr Avenue, Keansburg, New Jersey 07734.
