Sarah K. Larsen, 93, passed away on Thursday, July 19, 2018. She was born on August 31, 1924 in Brooklyn, New York before moving to Queens, in 1954. She lived in New Brunswick before settling in Hazlet, New Jersey in 1960 where she remained and raised her family. Sarah was employed by the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey for many years.
Sarah was an active member of Gethsemane Lutheran Church in Keyport and served in several community organizations including the Monmouth County Office of Aging, the Advisory Committee for Keyport Senior Center, Meals on Wheels, and the local soup kitchen and Food Pantry.
Sarah was predeceased by her dear parents, Samuel and Emma (Sternberg) Krapko, her beloved husband, James Larsen who died in 1997 and her dear son William Larsen who died in 1972. She is survived by her loving children, Susan Slade and her husband, Kevin Sr. of Freehold, New Jersey, Dr. Ellen Cook and her husband, Walter, Sr., of Novato, California and Rev. Jane McCready and her husband, Gary of New Providence, New Jersey, her cherished grandchildren, Kevin Slade, Jr., Christine Gonzalez and her husband Pablo, Walter Cook, III, and his wife, Katie, Claire Cook, Benjamin McCready, Madeline McCready, Charles McCready and her great-grandchild, Willow Grace Cook. Sarah will be deeply missed, but never forgotten.
Family and friends are invited to visit on Sunday, July 22, 2018 from 2:00 to 6:00 PM at the Shore Point Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 3269 State Highway/Route 35 North, Hazlet, New Jersey 07730. A Church service will be offered on Monday, July 23, 2018 at 11:00 AM at Gethsemane Lutheran Church, 60 Maple Place, Keyport, New Jersey 07735. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery, 456 Highway 35, Middletown/Red Bank, New Jersey 07701. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Keyport Ministries Food Pantry, 42 Elizabeth Street, Keyport, New Jersey 07735, www.keyportfoodpantry.org.
