Luis H. Herrera

Luis H. Herrera, 82, of Leonardo, New Jersey, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Monday, December 3, 2018 at Riverview Medical Center in Red Bank, New Jersey.  Luis was born on February 4, 1936 in Medellin, Colombia, where he grew up.  In 1967, he immigrated to the United States, relocating to West New York, New Jersey and in 1969 moved to Jersey City.  Shortly after in 1970, Luis settled in Leonardo, New Jersey, where he remained.  Before retirement, Luis worked as a Transmission Mechanic Specialist for Aamco for many years.

He was predeceased by his parents, Pedro Luis and Rosa (Munoz) Herrera.  Luis is survived by his beloved wife of 61 years, Elizabeth (Gil) Herrera, his loving children, Louis F. Herrera and his wife, Angela of Lynn, Massachusetts, Lucia Herrera of Atlantic Highlands, New Jersey, John J. Herrera and his wife, Brandie of Alabama, Liz Maratta of Tennessee, Claudia Benfield and her husband, Tim of Albany, Oregon, and Claudia T. Herrera Flores of Colombia, and his dear siblings, Irene Morales, Martha Garcia, and Carlos Herrera.  Luis is also survived by his cherished grandchildren, Michael Maratta, Krista Herrera, Isaac Benfield, Gabriel Benfield, Andres F. Montoya, and Daniel Montoya and his adored great granddaughter, Isabella Montoya.  Luis will be sadly missed, but never forgotten.
