Louis (Lou) D'Imperio, 88, of Holmdel, NJ passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 18, 2018 with his loving wife, Laura by his side. He was born on February 24, 1930 in Corona, NY and moved to Bari, Italy at three years old where he grew up on a farm with his parents and four siblings. At age 20 he moved permanently back to America, where through night school and self-taught determination, he conquered the English language. He also served as a corporal in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Afterwards, while working several day jobs, Lou attended night school for dental technology and became part owner of Allied Churgin & Sadkin Laboratories in Irvington, NJ. On May 12, 1957, Lou married the love of his life, Laura and they raised their three cherished daughters in both Union and Scotch Plains, NJ.
Lou was known for his engaging smile and love of life, family and friends. He was a loving husband and devoted father. His generosity, diligence, intelligence, friendliness and wit, along with his humble, caring and grateful heart were a true joy and inspiration. He enjoyed tennis, bocce, science, gardening, tending to his fig trees, beach vacations, singing, driving Jaguars, Italian food, music, and rooting on the NY Mets and Giants.
Lou was predeceased by his dear parents, Girolamo and Angela D'Imperio, and cherished brothers, Pat D'Imperio and Joseph D'Imperio. Lou is survived by his loving wife, Laura, and three cherished daughters, Angela Baum and her husband, John, of Hillsborough, NJ, Rachel Preziosi and her husband, Anthony, of Holland Twp., NJ, and Gina Viespoli and her husband, Dominick, of Holland Twp., NJ. He is also survived by his dear brother, Nino D'Imperio and sister, Rosa Mennuti of Bari, Italy, and his five adoring grandchildren, Marissa and Nick Baum, Alexa Preziosi, Caitlin and Lianna Viespoli. He's also survived by his many adored nieces and nephews. Lou will be deeply missed, always loved, and never forgotten.
Family and friends are invited to visit on Sunday, April 22, 2018 from 3:00 to 7:00 PM and Monday morning, April 23, 2018 from 8:00 to 8:30 AM at the Shore Point Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 3269 State Highway 35 North, Hazlet, New Jersey 07730. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Monday morning, April 23, 2018 at 9:15 AM at St. Catharine's Roman Catholic Church, 108 Middletown Road, Holmdel, New Jersey 07733. Entombment will follow at Hollywood Memorial Park Cemetery in Union, New Jersey.
