Leon Mashas, 79, of West Keansburg, New Jersey, passed away at Jersey Shore Medical Center, Neptune, New Jersey on Monday August 20, 2018. Leon was born on March 24, 1939 in Exeter, Pennsylvania. He grew up in Elizabeth, New Jersey, After graduating high school he joined the National Guard. He started his family in Elizabeth, New Jersey, before settling in West Keansburg in 1986. Before retirement, Leon worked as a Sheet Metal Worker for the Local Union #22 in Cranford, New Jersey for 33 years. Where he was known as "Mr. Lee".
He was predeceased by his parents, Leokadya (Kleynowski) and Frank Mashas, his son, Scott Mashas, and his siblings, Frank Mashas and Mary Siano. Leon is survived by his former wife, Geraldine Tomchek, his loving son, Craig Mashas of Union Beach, New Jersey, his “adopted son” Brian Shanley, his grandchildren, Nicole Johnson and her husband, Jordan, and Brittney Mashas, and his great-granddaughter, Audri Johnson. Leon will be greatly missed, but never forgotten.
Family and friends are invited to visit on Thursday, August 23, 2018 from 2:00 to 4:00 PM and 7:00 to 9:00 PM and Friday morning, August 24, 2018 from 9:15 to 10:00 AM at the Shore Point Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 3269 State Highway/Route 35 North, Hazlet, New Jersey 07730. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Friday morning, August 24, 2018 at 11:00 AM at Holy Trinity Polish National Catholic Church, 407 Ziegler Avenue, Linden, New Jersey 07036.
