Lawrence Raymond Kelly, 72, of Matawan, New Jersey, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on Monday, June 3, 2019. Lawrence was born on July 9, 1946 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, where he grew up. He lived in Brooklyn, New York and Staten Island before moving to Matawan, New Jersey. Before retirement, Lawrence worked as a House keeping Supervisor for the Veterans Administration in Bronx, New York. He was also a proud United States Navy Veteran serving during the Vietnam War.
He was predeceased by his parents, Joseph and Theresa (McKendry) Kelly and his brother, Joseph Kelly. Lawrence is survived by his beloved wife, Helen (Murphy) Kelly of Matawan, New Jersey, and his loving children, Christopher Gorman and his wife, Laura of East Northport, Long Island, Gina Connaghan and her husband, Robert of Brooklyn, New York, Jillian Padula and her husband, Joseph of Staten Island, New York, John Ross Cocozza and his wife, Susan of Little Silver, New Jersey, Jennifer McCue and her husband, James of Matawan, New Jersey, Thomas Cocozza and his wife, Michelle of Staten Island, New York, Vincent Cocozza and Joni Johnston of Ohio and Christine Jordan and her husband, Richard of Matawan, New Jersey. Lawrence is also survived by his 16 cherished grandchildren. Lawrence will be deeply missed, but never forgotten.
Family and friends are invited to visit on Saturday, June 8, 2019 from 7:00 to 9:00 PM and Sunday, June 9, 2019 from 2:00 to 4:00 PM and 7:00 to 9:00 PM and Monday morning, June 10, 2019 from 9:00 to 9:45 AM at the Shore Point Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 3269 State Highway/Route 35 North, Hazlet, New Jersey 07730. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Monday morning, June 10, 2019 at 10:15 AM at St. Joseph Church/ Our Lady of Fatima RC Church, 376 Maple Pl, Keyport, NJ 07735. Burial to follow at Brigadier General William C. Doyle Memorial Cemetery, 350 Province Line Rd, Wrightstown, NJ 08562.
