Kevin J. Larkin, Sr., 69, of Lakewood, New Jersey passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 25, 2018 at his home surrounded by his family. Kevin was born and raised in Jersey City, New Jersey and resided in Hazlet, New Jersey for 42 years where he raised his family before moving to Lakewood, New Jersey in 2016. Kevin worked as a network engineer for Verizon for over 30 years before retiring in 2009. Kevin served in the United States Army. He was honorably discharged after 4 years of service, achieving the rank of Sergeant.
One of Kevin’s favorite past-times was watching and playing hockey. In the 1990’s, he was a hockey coach and was loved by all his players and colleagues. He also loved playing golf and bowling. Kevin will be remembered for the love of his family, especially his grandchildren and his unwavering faithfulness and loyalty to the “New York Rangers.” His famous words were: “The best seat in the house is on the couch.”
Kevin was predeceased by his parents, John and Irene (Curtis) Larkin, and his dear daughter, Kelli Mary Larkin. He is survived by his beloved wife of 48 years, Rosemary, his loving children, Kevin John Larkin, Jr., Kathleen Megill and her husband, Jay, and Erin Larkin, and his adored grandchildren, Emily Rose Megill, Morgan Noelle Megill, Erin Megill and Shawn Megill, along with countless cousins, and nieces and nephews. In particular, his niece, Jacqueline Barber, RN for her love and support during Kevin’s fight against cancer.
Family and Friends are invited to visit Friday, December 28th from 4:00 to 8:00 PM and Saturday morning, December 29th from 8:00 to 8:45 AM at the Shore Point Funeral Home and Cremation Services. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Saturday morning, December 29th at 9:30 AM at The Catholic Church of St. Ann, 311 Carr Ave, Keansburg, New Jersey 07734.
