Julius "Jerry" Schechter, 80, of Ocean, New Jersey, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday, July 18, 2018. Julius, fondly known as "Jerry" by his family and friends, was born on February 26, 1938 in Manhattan, New York. Over his lifetime, he lived in Newark, Irvington, Linden, and Summit, New Jersey, and was most recently settled in Ocean, New Jersey in Monmouth County. Before retirement, Jerry worked as an Engineer for Magna Inc. for many years. He was also a proud United States Army Veteran.
He was predeceased by his parents, Isador and Mary Schechter, his first wife, Constance (Bujalski) Parker, and his second wife, Jacqueline (Lone) Schechter. Jerry is survived by his loving daughter, Debra Loiselle and her husband, Allan, of Hazlet, New Jersey, his cherished grandchildren, Leonard Loiselle of Hazlet, New Jersey, and Matthew Loiselle of Cranford, New Jersey, his adored nieces and nephews, Kenneth Mandel, Bruce Schechter, Shelley Lang, Reuben Schechter, Lisa Bowey, and Ilene Antonucci, along with his dear God-son, Tyler Mandel, and many extended family members and friends. Jerry will be greatly missed, but never forgotten.
Family and friends are invited to visit on Wednesday, July 25, 2018 from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 PM at the Shore Point Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 3269 State Highway/Route 35 North, Hazlet, New Jersey 07730. There will be a celebration of the memories of Jerry's life on Wednesday at 7:30 PM during the evening visitation hours. In respect of his family's wishes, he will be privately cremated.
