Joseph O. Erb

Joseph O. Erb, 56, of Hazlet, New Jersey passed away Thursday, November 8, 2018 at Jersey Shore Medical Center with his loving family by his side. Joe was a diehard New York Mets and Oakland Raiders fan. He loved watching sports, playing golf, fishing, classic rock music, and spending time with his family. Joseph was a retired New Jersey State Trooper who graduated from NJSP Training Academy on June 13, 1985 as a member of the 102 class.  He would return there assigned as an instructor just prior to his medical retirement due to injuries sustained from a tragic crash while patrolling the Garden State Parkway. He served the citizens of New Jersey with selfless courage, pride, and distinction.

Joseph was predeceased by his parents Otto and Orrie Erb. Joseph is survived by his loving wife of 37 years Donna Erb, his dear children, Joseph Erb and his wife, Stacie, of Columbus, Ohio,  Julie Bolen and her husband, Michael of Brick, New Jersey, and Brittany Erb of Laurence Harbor, New Jersey, his dear siblings, Edward Erb and his wife, Bee, Bernadine Aberegg and her husband, Bob, Christopher Erb and his wife, Libby, Maryann Thomas and her husband, Mitch, Elizabeth Erb, and Margaret Barrow and her husband, Nay, his cherished grandchildren Gigi, Michael, John, and Leo. Joseph is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, in laws, friends and loved ones. Joseph will be sadly missed but never forgotten.

Family and friends are invited to visit on Saturday, November 10, 2018 from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM at the Shore Point Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 3269 State Highway/Route 35 North, Hazlet, New Jersey 07730.  A Prayer Service will be offered on Saturday evening, November 10, 2018 at 8:00 PM at the funeral home.  In respect of Joseph’s wishes, he will be privately cremated.  For information, directions, or to send condolences to the family, please visit, www.shorepointfh.com.
