John J. Morgan, 73, of Cliffwood Beach, New Jersey, passed away peacefully on Tuesday morning, May 8, 2018 at Arnold Walter Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Holmdel, New Jersey. John was born on October 21, 1944 in Manhattan, New York, and grew up in the Hell's Kitchen area of the city. After marriage, he settled in Cliffwood Beach, New Jersey where he raised his family. Throughout his life, John, who was fondly known as "Hawkeye" by his family and friends, worked as a painter for D.C. Local Union #9 in Manhattan, New York for many years before retirement, as well as painting all of the houses of his family, friends and neighbors. He was also a proud veteran of the United States Navy.
He was predeceased by his parents, Edward and Mary (Powell) Morgan and his brother, Edward Morgan. John is survived by his loving children, Sean Morgan of Cliffwood Beach, New Jersey, and Deana Morgan of Arizona, his previous wife, Helen Osbahr, and his dear siblings, Bettie Ciotti and her husband, Eddie, Mary Rivera, Pat Grund and her husband, Harry, and Joanie Shaulinski and her husband, Billy. He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Arlene Morgan, his cherished grandchildren, Toriann, Takoda, Téalyn, Talia, and Tanner Morgan, and his beloved pets, Bentley, Louie, B.K. and Bandit. John will be greatly missed, but never forgotten.
Family and friends are invited to visit on Thursday, May 10, 2018 from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 PM and Friday morning, May 11, 2018 from 10:45 to 11:30 AM at the Shore Point Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 3269 State Highway/Route 35 North, Hazlet, New Jersey 07730. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Friday morning, May 11, 2018 at 12:00 pm at St. Joseph R.C. Church, 376 Maple Place, Keyport, New Jersey 07735.
