John Hernandez, 78, of Holmdel, New Jersey, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Friday, April 6, 2017 at Riverview Medical Center in Red Bank, New Jersey. John was born on January 3, 1940 in Puerto Rico and was raised in Bronx, New York. In 1966, he relocated to Jersey City, New Jersey, and in 1979, settled in Middletown with his family. In 2001, John moved to Holmdel, New Jersey, with his daughter, Maria. Before retirement, John worked as a Computer Programmer and Data Processor for Chemical Bank. He was also a proud United States Marine Corps Veteran. John loved to spend his days on the beach in Belmar with family and friends, young and old, riding the waves, enjoying the sun and talking about the day.
He was predeceased by his parents, Avelino and Maria Luisa Hernandez. John is survived by his loving children, Edward W. Kenmure III and his wife, Lucille, of Brick, New Jersey, Maria L. Soltys and her husband, Paul, of Holmdel, New Jersey, and John A. Hernandez and his wife, Barbara, of Brick, New Jersey, his previous wife, Hedy Lamberti, his dear sister, Ruth N. Hernandez, and his cherished grandchildren, Daniela Kenmure, Ryan Kenmure, Paul Soltys, Brielle Hernandez, Anna Soltys, Nicholas Kenmure, Madison Hernandez, Isabella Kenmure, and Carley Hernandez. John will be deeply missed, but never forgotten.
In respect of his wishes, John will be privately cremated. Family and friends are invited to attend a memorial visitation on Thursday, April 12, 2018 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at the Shore Point Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 3269 State Highway 35 North, Hazlet, New Jersey 07730. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Friday morning, April 13, 2018 at 10:00 AM at St. Benedict Roman Catholic Church, 165 Bethany Road, Holmdel, New Jersey 07730. Entombment of John's cremains will take place following the Mass at Holmdel Cemetery Mausoleum, 900 Holmdel Road, Holmdel, New Jersey 07733.
