John Furlong

John Furlong, 54, presently of Bradley Beach, formerly of Hazlet, New Jersey, passed away on Sunday, November 12, 2017 in San Francisco, California.  John was born on October 20, 1963 in Tullamore County Offaly, Ireland, and as a child moved to Hazlet, New Jersey with his family where he was raised.  Approximately 3 years ago, John and his fiance, Ann, moved to Bradley Beach, New Jersey.  For many years, John worked as a Courier for DHL in East Windsor, New Jersey, and he was also a proud United States Navy Veteran, where he served our country on the U.S.S. Josephus Daniels from 1982 to 1986.  John loved to travel and Fantasy Football.  He was an avid sports fan, and he especially enjoyed watching his favorite teams, the New York Giants, Yankees, and Rangers.

He was predeceased by his father, Michael Furlong.  John is survived by his adoring mother, Mary Furlong, of Melbourne, Florida, his beloved fiance, Ann Howley, and his loving sons, Kyle Furlong of Brick, New Jersey, and Christopher Furlong of Asbury Park, New Jersey.  He is also survived by his dear siblings, Michelle Erb of Melbourne, Florida, Thomas Furlong and his wife, Diane, of Hazlet, New Jersey, Michael Furlong and his wife, Val, of Rancho Santa Margarita, California, Mary Ehrhard and her husband, Peter, of Melbourne, Florida, Margaret Coles and her husband, Bill, of Melbourne, Florida, and Eileen Rourke and her husband, Mike, of Roswell, Georgia, along with many cherished nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.  John will be deeply missed, but never forgotten.

In respect of John's wishes, he will be privately cremated.  Family and friends are invited to attend a memorial visitation on Sunday afternoon, November 19, 2017 from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM at the Shore Point Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 3269 State Highway/Route 35 North, Hazlet, New Jersey 07730.  A prayer service will be offered at the funeral home during visitation hours.  In lieu of flowers, donations in loving memory of John to the Wounded Warriors Project would be greatly appreciated.  To donate, please visit, support.woundedwarriorproject.org.  For information, directions, or to send condolences to the family, please visit, www.shorepointfh.com.
