Jacob L. Kaplan

Jacob L. Kaplan 96, of Jackson, New Jersey, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 22, 2017 at Community Medical Center in Toms River, NJ.  He was born Jacob L. Kaplan on February 1, 1921 in Newark, New Jersey to Meyer and Rachel Kaplan. Jacob married his wife Viola and they moved to Hazlet, NJ in 1957 before settling in Jackson, NJ in 2011.  He was the sole proprietor of Fleetwood Carpets in Aberdeen, NJ before retiring. Jacob is predeceased by his wife Viola "Vi" (Sobka), his parents, Meyer Kaplan and Rachel (Asherovitz),  his stepson, Frank McHugh and his stepdaughter, Joyce Del Buono,  Jacob is survived by his daughter Candice Grothusen of Hazlet, NJ, his stepdaughter Joan A. Polefka of Jackson, NJ, and his sister, Molly E. Bessenoff. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren, and 17 great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. Jacob will be deeply missed, but never forgotten.

Family and friends are invited to visit on Thursday, May 25, 2017 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM at the Shore Point Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 3269 State Highway/Route 35 North, Hazlet, New Jersey 07730.
