Mr. & Mrs. Dowd, I grew up in Hazlet, NJ and went to SJV H.S. I have lived in Nashville, TN for the past 26 years. A family friend who still lives in Monmouth Co. shared your public letter on FB and I read that last night. I obviously don't know your family and especially Jack but know that my family and I grieve with you. I am a father of a College Freshman, our only child, and it I know how much it would pain my wife and I if we lost him. Jack would have been so proud to read your open letter in tribute to not only him but his friends and the first responders. Take comfort in our Catholic Faith tradition that Jack is truly HOME with our savior Jesus Christ!! May God shine his perpetual light upon the soul of Jack Dowd and may God comfort your family during this difficult time. As a side note, my mother, Joan Hennessy, is also from NYC, born and raised, and her maiden name was Dowd. Her parents immigrated to this Country from Co.'s Cork & Kerry in Ireland!!
