Gifford Bowne, 88, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 9, 2019 at his residence in Toms River, New Jersey. Gifford was born on February 27, 1931 in his grandmother’s home in Hazlet, New Jersey where he lived his entire life. He retired to Toms River, Berkeley Township, New Jersey in 2013 where he remained. Gifford was the Proprietor of the “Acorn Appraisal Service” in Hazlet, New Jersey. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Keansburg, New Jersey for 50 years. Gifford was the past Vice President for the Hazlet Seniors where he served as a tour guide for over 20 years. He was also a proud United States Army Veteran who served our country during the Korean Conflict Era.
Gifford is predeceased by his parents, Woodlyne and Anna (Stanhope) Bowne. He is survived by his beloved wife, Maryann Hall, his loving children, Gifford Bowne, Jr. and his wife MaryAnn of Jackson, New Jersey, Keith Bowne and his significant other, Robin of Toms River, New Jersey, Gregory Bowne of Matawan, Debra McGrath and her husband, David of Middletown, New Jersey, Gregory Hall and his wife, Elaine of Middletown, New Jersey, Jeffrey Hall and his wife, Beth of Beachwood, New Jersey, Kenton Hall and his wife, Shannon of Beachwood, New Jersey, his dear siblings, Edna Wilson, Anna Carhart, and Wayne Bowne and his wife, Cheryl of Keansburg, New Jersey. Gifford is also survived by 15 cherished grandchildren and 6 adored great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends. Gifford will be sadly missed, but never forgotten.
Family and friends are invited to visit on Thursday, September 12, 2019 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Shore Point Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 3269 State Highway/Route 35 North, Hazlet, New Jersey 07730. A Prayer Service will be offered on Thursday evening, September 12, 2019 during visiting hours at the funeral home. In respect of Gifford’s wishes, he will be privately cremated.
