Edward O. Shown, 68, of Morganville, New Jersey, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday, September 25, 2018 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick. Edward was born on August 9, 1950 in Hazlet, New Jersey, where he grew up. On November 1, 1980, Edward and his wife, Eileen, were married and began their lives together in Keyport. Shortly after, they settled in Morganville to raise their family. Before retirement, Edward was the longstanding President of the Local 8N Graphic Communications Conference of International Brotherhood of Teamsters, as well as a Printing Pressman for the Star Ledger. In addition to his Presidency with his union, Edward was a partner of Matchmaker Real Estate in Morganville. He was also a proud Veteran of the United States Army National Guard. Besides the titles he has held throughout his life, Edward was a fan of the New York Mets and Jets, enjoyed playing poker in his spare time and was an avid fishing enthusiast. Edward had many unique and defining characteristics, but most of all, he was a loving son, husband, father, brother, uncle, grandfather and friend.
He was predeceased by his parents, George and Nancy (Gagliano) Shown. Edward is survived by his beloved and devoted wife of 37 years, Eileen (Fitzpatrick) Shown, his loving children, Edward Shown and his wife, Elizabeth, of Langhorne, Pennsylvania, Elizabeth Shown and her fiancé, Russell Eia, of Morganville, New Jersey, and Emily Shown of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, his dear siblings, George Shown and his wife, Sharon, Nancy Rodney and her husband, Jack, and Thomas Shown and his wife, Celia, his step-sister Joann Kaczmarek, along with his cherished grandchildren, Caelyn and Phoebe Shown, and many adored nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends. Edward will be greatly missed, but never forgotten.
Family and friends are invited to visit on Thursday, September 27, 2018 from 2:00 to 6:00 PM at the Shore Point Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 3269 State Highway/Route 35 North, Hazlet, New Jersey 07730. The United States Army Honor Guard will offer Military Honors during the visitation hours. In respect of Edward's wishes, he will be privately cremated.
