Edward J. Murphy Jr., 88, of Hazlet, New Jersey, passed away peacefully on July 27, 2018. Ed was born July 30, 1929 in Jersey City, New Jersey, where he grew up and met his beloved wife, Dorothy. In 1958, Ed and Dorothy moved to Hazlet, New Jersey to raise their family and in 1993, retired to Manahawkin, New Jersey. In 2005, Ed settled in Monroe Village.
Ed was a proud United States Army Air Corps veteran, having served our country during World War II. After his honorable discharge and service, Ed completed his high school education and went on to graduate from Pace University in New York. He spent much of his career working in the investment industry on Wall Street. Ed enjoyed a good game of golf, the New York Mets, a good party, and anything chocolate. However his greatest joy, outside of his grandchildren, was cruising the islands with his beloved Dottie.
He was predeceased by his beloved wife of 56 years, Dorothy (Zowada) Murphy. Ed is survived by his two loving sons, Thomas Murphy and his wife, Kathryn "Kit", of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and Timothy Murphy and his wife, Christina, of Hazlet, New Jersey, along with his 5 cherished grandchildren, Miles, Danielle, Nicole, Susannah and Brianna Murphy.
