Bernadette E. Nicholson, fondly known as Bunny, 88, of Marlboro, New Jersey, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Tuesday, December 4, 2018 at Centra State Hospital in Freehold, New Jersey. She was born Bernadette Sullivan on January 24, 1930 in Jersey City, New Jersey, where she grew up. In 1960, Bunny settled in Carteret, New Jersey to raise her family and in 2000 retired to Hamilton, New Jersey. Over the recent years, she was residing at Sunrise Senior Living of Marlboro. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.
She was predeceased by her parents, John and Rose (Radican) Sullivan, her beloved husband, Raymond J. Nicholson, her son, Robert Nicholson, and her brother-in-law, Ralph Citarella. Bunny is survived by her loving children, Eileen Castagna and her husband, Joe of San Jose, California, Raymond Nicholson Jr. and his wife, Jody of Marlboro, New Jersey, Rosemary Montgomery and her husband, Adam of Easton, Pennsylvania, and Janet Lichauco and her husband, Libby of Fords, New Jersey. Bunny is also survived by her dear sisters, Mary Citarella and Rosemary Riley and her husband, Dick, her daughter-in-law, Zaida Nicholson, her cherished grandchildren, Sean, Kristen, Ryan, Kyle, Kevin, Brian, Patrick, Corey, Keith, Tyler, and Meghan, and her adored great grandchildren, Brent, Natalie, Mark, Sadie, Shelby, Jax, Robert, Keira and Reagan. She will be deeply missed, but never forgotten.
Family and friends are invited to visit on Sunday, December 9, 2018 from 12:00 to 4:00 PM at the Shore Point Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 3269 State Highway/Route 35 North, Hazlet, New Jersey 07730. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Monday morning, December 10, 2018 at 10:00 AM at St. Gabriel's Historic Church, 549 Route 520, Marlboro, New Jersey 07746. Interment will follow at Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veteran's Memorial Cemetery, 350 Provinceline Road, Wrightstown, New Jersey.
