Barbara Tirelli, 79, of Matawan, New Jersey, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on November 5, 2018 at Raritan Bay Medical Center in Old Bridge, New Jersey. She was born Barbara Califano on October 14, 1939 in Brooklyn, New York, where she grew up. On May 23, 1959, Barbara and her husband, Joseph, were married and began their lives together in Brooklyn, where they raised their family. About 25 years ago, they moved to Parlin, New Jersey and 13 years ago, Barbara settled in Matawan, New Jersey. Barbara was an extremely loving woman with a heart of gold. She touched the heart's of everyone she met and everyone that came into her life was always changed for the better. She was a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother and great grandmother and was loved by all.
She was predeceased by her parents, Albert and Tecla (Acquaviva) Califano, her beloved husband, Joseph A. Tirelli Jr., her loving daughter, Joann Mazzarella, her dear sisters, Angie Marino and Theresa Califano, and her cherished grandson, Christopher. Barbara is survived by her loving children, Gina Daya of Freehold, New Jersey, Dina Congiusta and her husband, Robert, of Staten Island, New York, and Joseph A. Tirelli III of Monroe Township, New Jersey, her dear siblings, Al Califano, Carol Lynch, and Dolores Weinberg, her son-in-law, Charlie Mazzarella, her cherished grandchildren, Jaclyn, TJ, Nicole, Jenna, Robert, Danielle, Samantha, Michael and Gabrielle, and her adored great grandchildren, Alexa, Jaleah, Justina, and Gino. Barbara will be greatly missed, but never forgotten.
In respect of Barbara's wishes, she will be privately cremated. Family and friends are invited to attend a memorial visitation at Most Holy Redeemer Church, 133 Amboy Road, Matawan, New Jersey 07747, on Saturday, November 10, 2018 from 10:30 AM to 12:00 PM, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial beginning at 12:00 PM.
