William R. Howard

          William R. Howard, 79, of Hazlet, New Jersey, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Monday, May 16, 2016 at Laurel Bay Health Care and Rehabilitation Center in Keansburg, New Jersey.  William was born on January 25, 1937 in Jersey City, New Jersey, where he grew up and lived for many years.  In his early twenties, William was stationed in Germany for five years, while serving with the United States Army.  Later, he moved to Laurence Harbor, New Jersey.  On April 15, 1989, William and his wife, Roberta, were married and began their life together in Matawan, New Jersey.  A few years later, they settled in Hazlet, New Jersey.  Throughout his life, William worked as an Electrician; he was currently retired.  His family lovingly knew him as "Pop Pop", who described him as a man of few words.  Regardless, he was always able to get his point across.

        He is predeceased by his parents, Augustine and Dorothy (Schmidt) Howard, and his brother-in-law, George Christi.  William is survived by his beloved and devoted wife of 27 years, Roberta (Conway) Howard, his loving children, Ursula Brower and her husband, William, of Morganville, New Jersey, Joanne Formon and her husband, William, of Matawan, New Jersey, Lisa Savoia and her husband, Joseph, of Hazlet, New Jersey, and Grace Lambertz and her husband, Sean, of South Boundbrook, New Jersey; along with his dear sister, Joyce Christi, and his cherished grandchildren, Amanda, Bailee, Stephanie, Zoe, Natalie, Madison, and Sean.  He will be sadly missed, but never forgotten.  In respect of William's wishes, he will be privately cremated.  Family and friends are invited to attend a memorial visitation on Monday, May 23, 2016 from 4:00 to 6:00 PM at the Shore Point Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 3269 State Route 35 North, Hazlet, New Jersey 07730.  A prayer service will be offered during visitation hours.  For information, directions, or to send condolences to the family, please visit, www.shorepointfh.com.
