Robert W. Negra, 87, of Hazlet, New Jersey, passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 16, 2017 at Bayshore Health Care and Rehabilitation Center in Holmdel, New Jersey. Robert was born on March 30, 1930 in Harrison, New Jersey, where he spent the earlier part of his childhood and in 1945 as a teenager, he and his family moved to Iselin, New Jersey. On June 6, 1959, Robert married his beloved wife, Janice, and shortly after they settled in Hazlet, New Jersey to begin their life together and raise their family.
Robert was a proud United States Navy Veteran, where he served as a Medic during the Korean War. Before retirement, Robert worked as an insurance agent for Prudential Insurance Company for 20 years. He was a life member of the Iselin First Aid Squad, which he and his brother, John, helped to organize. He was also a past exalted ruler of the Middletown Elks #2179. He enjoyed many years with the Elks where he was involved in the many activities of the lodge. Robert also enjoyed singing and performing in shows with his friends at St. Catherine of Laboure Church in North Middletown, as well as fresh water fishing, but by far his greatest joy was spending time with his family and friends.
He was predeceased by his parents, John and Lillian (Caldwell) Negra and his dear brother, John Negra and his wife, Audrey. Robert is survived by his beloved and devoted wife of 58 years, Janice A. (Johnson) Negra, his loving children, Robert A. Negra and his wife, Cindy, of Brick, New Jersey, David K. Negra and his wife, Susan, of Middletown, New Jersey, and Gary M. Negra and his wife, Cathy, of Brielle, New Jersey, along with his cherished grandchildren, Michael Negra, John Negra, Kelly Negra, Alexa Golub, Taylor Golub, Kayla Riley, and George Faccas. Robert will be deeply missed, but never forgotten.
In respect of Robert's wishes, he will be privately cremated. Family and friends are invited to attend a memorial visitation on Tuesday, November 21, 2017 from 2:00 to 5:00 pm at the Shore Point Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 3269 State Highway/Route 35 North, Hazlet, New Jersey 07730.
