Richard J. Dougherty

       Richard J. Dougherty, 79, of Hazlet, New Jersey, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on October 19, 2016 at Bayshore Community Hospital in Holmdel, New Jersey.  Richard was born on December 11, 1936 in Jersey City, New Jersey and grew up in Kearny, New Jersey.  On June 24, 1961, Richard and his wife, Barbara, were married and began their life together.  In 1966, they settled in Hazlet, New Jersey to raise their family.  Before retirement, Richard was the Vice President for Investors Bank in Spring Lake, New Jersey.  He was also a proud United States Army Veteran, having served during the Korean Conflict era.  He was predeceased by his parents, Charles and Mary Cecelia (Brady) Dougherty, and his siblings, Joseph, Charles, Mary, and John Dougherty.  Richard is survived by his beloved and devoted wife of 55 years, Barbara A. (Husvar) Dougherty, his loving children, Richard E. Dougherty and his wife, Trina, of North Plainfield, New Jersey, Cheryl Dougherty-Vito and her husband, Louis, of Plainfield, New Jersey, and Laura Dougherty of Hoboken, New Jersey, along with his dear siblings, Elizabeth Woods, and Edward Dougherty, and his cherished grandchildren, Spencer Vito, Cooper Vito, and Liam Dougherty.  He will be deeply missed, but never forgotten.

        Family and friends are invited to visit on Sunday, October 23, 2016 from 2:00 to 6:00 PM and Monday morning, October 24, 2016 from 9:15 to 10:00 AM at the Shore Point Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 3269 State Highway/Route 35 North, Hazlet, New Jersey 07730.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Monday morning, October 24, 2016 at 10:30 AM at St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, 376 Maple Place, Keyport, New Jersey 07735.  Entombment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery Mausoleum, 360 Broadway, Keyport, New Jersey 07735.  For information, directions, or to send condolences to the family, please visit, www.shorepointfh.com.
