Michaelina (Petrozola) Lafata

Michaelina Lafata, fondly known as "Mickey", 98, of Staten Island, New York, formerly of Brooklyn, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Tuesday, January 9, 2018 at Staten Island University Hospital South.  She was born Michaelina Petrozola on December 2, 1919 in Brooklyn, New York, where she grew up.  On September 9, 1945, Michaelina and her husband, Rosario, were married and began their lives together in Brooklyn, where they remained to raise their family.  In 2013, Michaelina and her loving daughter, Patricia, settled in Staten Island, New York.

She was predeceased by her parents, Domenica (Tuozza) and Giuseppe "Joseph" Petrozola, and her beloved and devoted husband, Rosario Lafata.  Michaelina is survived by her loving children, Patricia Lafata of Staten Island, New York, and Raymond Lafata and his wife, Camille, of Staten Island, New York, her cherished grandsons, Christopher Lafata and his wife, Amanda, and Jeffrey Lafata, and many adoring nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.  Michaelina will be greatly missed, but never forgotten.

Family and friends are invited to visit on Thursday, January 11, 2018 from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 PM and Friday morning, 9:00 to 9:45 AM at John Vincent Scalia Home for Funerals, 28 Eltingville Boulevard, Staten Island, New York 10312.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Friday, January 12, 2018 at 10:30 AM at Our Lady Star of the Sea Church, 5411 Amboy Road, Staten Island 10312.  Interment will follow at St. Charles Cemetery, 2015 Wellwood Avenue, Farmingdale, New York 11735.  For information, directions, or to send condolences to the family, please visit, www.shorepointfh.com.
