John R. Punko

       John R. Punko, 75, of Hazlet, New Jersey, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday, October 25, 2016 at Bayshore Community Hospital in Holmdel, New Jersey.  John was born on September 13, 1941 in Bronx, New York, and was raised in Jersey City, New Jersey.  On May 28, 1971, John and his wife, Monica, were married and began their life together in Hazlet, New Jersey.  He was predeceased by his parents, Charles and Helen (Szabo) Punko, and his granddaughter, Christie Shimak.  John is survived by his beloved and devoted wife of 45 years, Monica R. (Kruk) Punko, his loving children, Pamela Mizak and her husband, James, of Florida, Thomas Connors and his wife, Laura, of Hazlet, New Jersey, Melanie Shimak and her husband, Joseph, of Toms River, New Jersey, and Cindee Punko of Hazlet, New Jersey, along with his cherished grandchildren, Patricia Mizak, Daniel Mizak, Joseph Shimak, Anna Connors, Michael Shimak, Andrea Connors, Alexandrea Punko, and Daniella Punko, and his special niece, Michelina Kruk.  He will be deeply missed, but never forgotten.

       Arrangements were entrusted to the Shore Point Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 3269 State Highway/Route 35 North, Hazlet, New Jersey 07730.  In respect of John's wishes, he will be privately cremated.  A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Friday, November 4, 2016 at 10:00 AM at Holy Family Roman Catholic Church, 727 Highway 36, Union Beach, New Jersey 07735.  For information, directions, or to send condolences to the family, please visit, www.shorepointfh.com.
