Gretchen Jean (Steager) Sheppard

     Gretchen J. Sheppard, 58, of North Middletown, New Jersey, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Friday, April 28, 2017 at Bayshore Community Hospital in Holmdel, New Jersey.  She was born Gretchen Steager on September 1, 1958 in Red Bank, New Jersey, and was raised in Keyport.  On August 29, 1992, Gretchen and her husband, Robert, were married and began their life together in North Middletown.  For many years, Gretchen worked as a Dental Assistant for a Dental Office in Matawan, New Jersey.  She was predeceased by her parents, Walter and Carol (Wharton) Steager, and her brother, Carlton "Tacky" Steager.  Gretchen is survived by her beloved and devoted husband of 24 years, Robert A. Sheppard, her dear sister, Susan Stryker and her husband, Raymond, and many cherished nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.
