Elsa M. (Johansen) Jorgensen

    Elsa M. Jorgensen, 87, of East Brunswick, New Jersey, formerly of Old Bridge, passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 19, 2016 at Sunrise Assisted Living.  She was born Elsa M. Johansen on February 22, 1929 in Perth Amboy, New Jersey, and was raised in Staten Island, New York, where she graduated from Tottenville High School.  On October 15, 1949, Elsa and her husband, Edward, were married and began their life together in Perth Amboy, New Jersey.  In 1963, they settled in Old Bridge, New Jersey to raise their family.  While living in Old Bridge, Elsa was the Secretary to the Chief of Police for Old Bridge Police Department for over 25 years.  After retirement, she volunteered at Raritan Bay Medical Center in Old Bridge for many years.  She was predeceased by her parents, John and Petra Johansen, and her dear siblings, John and Ellie Johansen.  Elsa is survived by her loving sons, Ronald W. Jorgensen and his wife, Rebecca, of Port Washington, Wisconsin, and Barry J. Jorgensen and his wife, Anne, of Old Bridge, New Jersey, and her cherished granddaughter, Kara Jorgensen.  Elsa's family would like to thank all the staff at Sunrise Assisted Living in East Brunswick, New Jersey for the love, support, and wonderful care they have given to their mother, and grandmother.  She will be deeply missed, but never forgotten.
