Edmund M. Donovan Jr., 70, of Aberdeen, New Jersey passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Saturday, July 30, 2016 at Bayshore Community Hospital in Holmdel, New Jersey. Edmund was born on March 2, 1946 in St. Louis, Missouri, and grew up in Overland, Missouri. On December 2, 1967, Edmund and his wife, Elizabeth ("Anne"), were married and began their lives together. In 1968, they moved to Wallingford, Pennsylvania to raise their family. Edmund and Anne remained in the Pennsylvania area until moving to Central New Jersey in 1977. In 2001, they settled in Aberdeen, New Jersey. Before retiring, Edmund worked in construction as a self-employed contractor. He was also a proud United States Navy Veteran, having served during the Vietnam War.
He was predeceased by his parents, Edmund M. Sr. and Jewell (Smith) Donovan, along with his sister, Aloa L. Donovan. Edmund is survived by his beloved wife of 49 years, Elizabeth A. (Galia) Donovan, his loving children, Edmund M. Donovan III and his wife, Valerie, of North Brunswick, New Jersey, Robert J. Donovan and his wife, Terra, of Santa Monica, California, Frederick T. Donovan and his wife, Kartina, of Freehold, New Jersey, and Joseph M. Donovan of Aberdeen, New Jersey, his dear sister, Sandy Dunn of O'Fallon, Missouri, and his cherished grandchildren, Emily A. Donovan, Sean P. Donovan, Sophia A. Donovan, Andrew K. Donovan, and Sarah A. Donovan. He will be deeply missed, but never forgotten.
Family and friends are invited to visit on Tuesday evening, August 2, 2016 from 7:00 to 9:00 PM , and Wednesday morning, August 3, 2016 from 8:45 to 9:30 AM at the Shore Point Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 3269 State Route 35 North, Hazlet, New Jersey 07730. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Wednesday morning, August 3, 2016 at 10:00 AM at St. Benedict Roman Catholic Church, 165 Bethany Road, Holmdel, New Jersey 07733. Interment will follow at 12:30 PM at Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veteran's Memorial Cemetery, 350 Province Line Road, Wrightstown, New Jersey 08562.
