August "Gus" Paul Doty

     August "Gus" Paul Doty, 73, of Union Beach, New Jersey, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, April 27, 2017.  Gus was born on February 9, 1944 to the late August and Cora (Hubbard) Doty in Staten Island, New York. He met the love of his life who he was married to for the past 46 years, Mary Ellen (Jugan) Doty and before they settled in Union Beach. He was a retired manager for Verizon in New York City where he worked for 27 years. He was a proud Navy veteran. He was a member of the American Legion Post #5 of Clark, New Jersey.  He enjoyed golfing, watching the New York Mets, Gus was a lifelong musician who played the accordian with the "QuarterNotes". 

     He was predeceased by his parents, August O. Doty and Cora (Hubbard) Doty. Gus is survived by his beloved and devoted wife of 46 years, Mary Ellen, and his brothers William Doty (Peggy) of Barnegat, New Jersey, Thomas Doty (Barbara) of Staten Island, and Robert Doty (Twyla) of Eastland, Texas. He is also survived by a host of loving nieces, nephews, and their families. He is also survived by his sidekick "Scooter" and "Happy". He will be sadly missed, but never forgotten.

     Family and friends are invited to visit on Sunday, April 30, 2017 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM and Monday morning, May 1, 2017 from 8:45 to 9:30 AM at the Shore Point Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 3269 State Highway/Route 35 North, Hazlet, New Jersey 07730.  A wake service will be held on Sunday evening April 30, 2017 at the funeral home by the Reverend James McGuffey. On Monday morning, May 1, 2017 a prayer service will be held at the funeral home at 10:00 AM by Reverend Joseph Upole.
