Anastasia F. (Plucker) Kelleher

        Anastasia F. Kelleher, 82, of Hazlet, New Jersey passed away peacefully on Friday, June 24, 2016 at Regency Park Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Hazlet. She was born Anastasia F. Plucker on October 8, 1933 in Manhattan, New York, and was raised in Brooklyn, New York. Anastasia and her husband, John, were married and in 1966, they settled in Hazlet, New Jersey to raise their family.  Anastasia studied at St. John's University in Manhattan, New York, where she received her Master of Science in Biology degree.  She also went on to do graduate work at the University of California, Berkeley. Before retirement, Anastasia taught high school biology within the New York City Department of Education system. In addition, she was an orchestra conductor and played the violin in college. Anastasia was a member of the Irish Federation, in which she led their orchestra as the conductor.  She also studied numerous languages, and later in life went on to further her education at Brookdale College in New Jersey.  She was an active parishioner of St. Benedict Roman Catholic Church in Holmdel, New Jersey, and was the past president of the Rosary Society at St. Benedict Church.  One of Anastasia's favorite hobbies was showing her beloved dog, "Duffie," a West Highland White Terrier, at competitive dog shows.

        She was predeceased by her husband, John T. Kelleher, and her parents, Frederick and Anastasia (Breen) Plucker.  Anastasia is survived by her loving daughter, Kathleen M. Kelleher of Hazlet, New Jersey, her dear brother, Joseph Plucker and his wife, Susan, her cherished niece, Jennifer Mullins and her husband, Buck, along with her adored great niece, Anastasia Mullins. She will be sadly missed, but never forgotten.  

        Family and friends are invited to visit on Tuesday, June 28, 2016 from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 PM, and Wednesday morning, June 29, 2016 from 9:15 to 10:00 AM, at the Shore Point Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 3269 State Route 35 North, Hazlet, New Jersey 07730. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Wednesday morning, June 29, 2016, at 10:30 AM, at St. Benedict Roman Catholic Church, 165 Bethany Road, Holmdel, New Jersey 07733.
