Alfred Glavan

Alfred Glavan, 95, of Monmouth Beach, New Jersey, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, February 15, 2018 at Riverview Medical Center in Red Bank, New Jersey.  Alfred was born on August 4, 1922 in Lodi, New Jersey, where he was raised and remained there until marrying his wife, Ruth.  After marriage, Alfred and Ruth began their life together in Carlstadt and after a few years relocated to Wood Ridge to raise their family.  They also lived in Hasbrouck Heights, before retiring to Whiting, New Jersey.  Twelve years ago, Alfred settled in Monmouth Beach.  Before retirement, Alfred worked for Becton Dickinson Company as their Supervisor of Incoming Inspection for many years.  He was also a proud Veteran of the United States Coast Guard/Merchant Marines.

He was predeceased by his parents, Nicholas and Celeste (Guardella) Glavan and his beloved wife, Ruth (Wistermayer) Glavan.  Alfred is survived by his loving sons, Kerry Glavan and his wife, Rosemary, of Laurence Harbor, New Jersey, Dennis Glavan and his wife, Ann Marie, of Nutley, New Jersey, and Marty Glavan and his wife, Lisa, of Locust, New Jersey, along with his cherished granddaughters, Jessica Glavan and her husband, Chris D'Addario, Alissa Glavan, Zoe Glavan, and Kristin Metzger, and one great grandchild on the way.  Alfred will be deeply missed, but never forgotten.

Family and friends are invited to visit on Sunday, February 18, 2018 from 12:00 to 3:00 PM at the Shore Point Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 3269 State Highway/Route 35 North, Hazlet, New Jersey 07730.  A prayer service will be offered at the funeral home on Sunday during visitation hours.  In respect of Alfred's wishes, he will be privately cremated.  For information, directions, or to send condolences to the family, please visit, www.shorepointfh.com.
